U.S. Embassy Moscow announces IMAGINING PEACE, a peace poster competition & exhibition in observance of United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, 2022.

Imagining Peace POster Competition & Exhibition Poster

IMAGINING PEACE is a peace poster competition and exhibition in observance of United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, 2022. This competition invites art students and professional artists from around the world to submit poster designs to commemorate this day dedicated to fostering world peace. Poster designs may be submitted beginning Friday, August 19, 2022. All submissions must be made by 11:59 PM EDT on Sunday, September 18, 2022. All entrants must be over the age of eighteen. The competition will culminate in virtual and live exhibitions curated by Angelina Lippert, Chief Curator of Poster House in New York City.

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded in two categories: student artist designs and professional artist designs. Winners will be invited to travel to New York City and Washington, DC with all expenses paid to be interviewed about their artwork and to meet with cultural and diplomatic leaders. If winning artists are unable to travel, they will be offered an opportunity to conduct interviews and meetings virtually.

CURATOR

Angelina Lippert is the Chief Curator and Director of Content of Poster House in New York City, the first museum in the United States dedicated to the art and history of the poster. She holds an MA in the art of the Russian Avant-Garde from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, and a BA in theology and art history from Smith College. She is the author of The Art Deco Poster, and has lectured at SVA, The Cooper Union, NYU, Columbia University, and The Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She is a keynote speaker this year at Hamilton Wayzgoose and a second-year judge at the International Poster Biennial in Mexico.

COMPETITION DATES

Friday, August 19, 2022 – Submission portal opens

Sunday, September 18, 2022 – Submission portal closes at 11:59 PM EDT

Tuesday, September 20, 2022 – Contest winners announced online

Wednesday, September 21, 2022 – IMAGINING PEACE digital exhibition opens online

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. Enter your artwork here at the Poster Competition submission portal. Submissions must be ORIGINAL ARTWORK created specifically for this competition. The names of all artists involved in creating the artwork must be identified. However, artists have the option to remain publicly anonymous if their artwork is chosen as a winning design.

2. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the successful submission of your poster design.

3. All submissions will be reviewed and judged by IMAGINING PEACE Curator, Angelina Lippert.

4. Winning entries will be chosen for a digital, online exhibition. A curated selection of designs will be included in a live exhibition at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in the fall of 2022.

5. You will be contacted by email if your artwork is selected as one of the winning designs. Additional formats may be requested if your artwork is selected for live exhibition.

6. While ownership of all submitted artwork will remain with the artists, U.S. Embassy Moscow reserves the right to exhibit, reproduce and publish any artwork submitted for this contest and to publish artists’ names (with the exception when an artist chooses to remain publicly anonymous) in perpetuity with no limitations for promotional, educational and marketing use. U.S. Embassy Moscow guarantees that usage of submitted artwork be limited to non-commercial use.

Static: JPG, PNG, GIF up to 2000px wide under 4mb.

Motion: GIF or MP4 up to 2000px wide under 20mb.

Please include your name and the poster title in the file name, unless you prefer to be listed as anonymous.
